It’s got a direct line to the part of my brain that deals with my childhood. So many memories.
Like seemingly most of the other people playing, I’m on the lookout for a friend safari in Pokémon X & Y that has Ditto in it. If anyone can help with that, that would be awesome.
In return, I can offer an electric type safari with Galvantula, Electabuzz and Dedenne, (although I fully admit that the last one isn’t much of an incentive) along with 500 cool points, which can be either saved or spent, and my own personal thumbs up.
FYI, 500 cool points can be traded for a novelty moustache or 3 bouncy balls. I operate the cool point system on a seaside arcade basis.
Anyway, friend code is 2466 2030 0727.
My friend safari type is fire if anyone wants to add me (:
I will. Code is 2466 2030 0727 and type is electric.

I’m Fire type I believe, and will have the Elite Four down today/tommorow.

It’s fairly obvious to most of those that have played it, but they sure have tweaked the shiny odds in Pokémon X & Y. The number of random shiny non-pokéradar Pokémon I’ve caught already has matched the total that I’ve ran into in the rest of the games combined. Previously, I caught a Paras in Silver, a Roselia in Platinum and a Sewaddle in White. In the month or so since I’ve been playing Y, I’ve got a Lickitung in a horde and ran away from a Ferroseed. To be fair, I was slightly drunk at the time and didn’t notice it was blue until I’d hit run. Still kicking myself over it.
Those good at maths will notice I only listed 2 there, which doesn’t match 3. With this chap caught just now, it does.
Took me by surprise a little bit as I nearly fell off my chair. Had his nature been careful/impish, it would have been perfect, but alas, it’s timid. As I plan to use a Trevenant in my team, having a pokémon with high attack and low speed with a nature that does the opposite doesn’t really help much.
Still, it’s a good find. Worryingly, it’s the highlight of the day/week so far.
Ok, so my attempt a few days ago at getting some Friend Codes for the safari worked a bit. I now have a few zones to visit.
This is how I feel now.
You said it, namesake and inspiration for gamertag.
Friend code is 2466 2030 0727. Type is electric and I’ve been told that the 3 Pokémon in it are Galvantula, Electabuzz and Dedenne.
No, wait! Come back! 2 out of 3 of those could be actually useful!
It’s funny. Before today, I had no desire to buy an Xbox One. Ever since the consoles reveal, I’ve had the stance of “Meh” on it and the whole “You can’t play preowned game and you always have to be online as does the camera pointed at you OH NO WAIT! WE’VE CHANGED OUR MINDS!!!” fiasco did nothing to help that. In fact, it made it worse. I didn’t want to buy something that claimed to be a games consoles but had many features that hindered it from being that.
Similarly, before today, I had no real desire to play any of the Killer Instinct games. Not because I thought they were bad (far from it, in fact. I’ve heard little but praise for the series) but because I didn’t have the consoles for them. Never had a SNES or a N64, as I was a Playstation kid. So whilst I heard cool things about 99 hit combos, I was content with Tekken 2 as a youngster. Even nowadays, if I ever get the urge to play a fighting game, I have MK 9, MvC3, SF2 HD and probably some other abbreviated fighters to keep me entertained.
So yeah, before today, I had no urge to own an Xbox One or Killer Instinct. That has slightly changed.
THE MUSIC FOR THE NEW KILLER INSTINCT IS FUCKING AWESOME!!!
If there’s one thing that can make a fighting game, imo, it’s the music. Whether it be an arcade or console version, players will have to play through so many stages so to have an awesome soundtrack helps with that. Look at Street Fighter 2. It has music that stands up to this day. Guile’s theme, Kens’s theme - both some of my favourite video game music. I listened through the main theme of Tekken 2 so much as a child that it’s stuck in my head. For good reason as it’s pretty damn good. That’s what makes good fighter music - it has to stick in your head, which is exactly what the Killer Instinct theme has done since I listened to it on my lunch break.
The fact that I’m slightly open to getting a Xbone now is testament to how important I view music. Then again, I do get my consoles for weird reasons like that. 360 was bought on playing Left 4 Dead around a friends house and this past weekend, I toyed with getting either a PS3 or Vita so I could download and play through some of my favourite old PS1 games.
These games being the aformentioned Tekken 2, Crash Bandicoot 3 and Final Fantasy 7, which are all games that I have actually in my room along with the PS2 and memory cards. Maybe I’m just that lazy that I’d rather buy a whole new console and buy them again that deal with setting up cables to my tv.
It’s like a wirey maze back there.
"Are you taking part in Movember then, Lewis? It looks like you are"
Inner voice : “Actually, I’ve slightly given up caring for things at the moment and shaving is one of those things that I’ve got no time or interest in doing. This is a depression beard which happens to be taking place at a time where it’s acceptable for men to grow facial hair. It’s the perfect disguise.”
"Yes. Yes I am."
And no one at work was any the wiser…
